In the end, this is what Tumblr is all about, for me. I’ve been “maintaining” a weblog since 2000, when I read an article called The Blogging Revolution by Biz Stone (also a Tumblr user by the by). In the ensuing 7 years I posted a total of, maybe, 20 times.
I tried all kinds of different blogging platforms, including my own homegrown thing for awhile, but they all fell prey to the same stagnation. I’d post a few times when I had a new and exciting toy of a platform, and then fall off for months at a stretch.
For whatever reason, Tumblr has thus far defeated that tendency to grind to a halt. I don’t know if it’s the ease of use of the well thought out bookmarklet, or the tumblelog form, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s the only thing, so far, that has continued to roll.
